Meanwhile, Great South is hosting a four-hour seminar with Christchurch organisational psychologist Jane Davis, which has been designed to help people cope with changes forced by the first year of Covid-19, 2020.
Davis’s seminar, Thriving Through Change and Uncertainty, is in Invercargill on Thursday March 18 at the Kelvin Hotel between 10.30am and 2.30pm.
Science of breathing to be explained
Laurie said in a media release that after spending four years spent working with scientists, cell biologists, breathing physicians and industry experts from around the world, “a single proposition emerged”.
“The 21st century pace and pressure has shifted our breathing from our tummy to our chest, and this has systematically changed our state making us take too many breaths”.
Her Take a Breath tour would be educating people about the science behind stress, anxiety and breathing.

“I firmly believe that every New Zealander needs to learn the way we breath, while we go about our days, directly impacts the level of stress and anxiety we experience. It may seem too simple, yet the breath response is an intricate and complex mechanism that directly impacts human health,” Laurie said.
Coping with challenges and uncertainty
Great South said in a media release that 2020 had been challenging and Davis’s workshop was designed to equip people with skills to face any future challenges and uncertainty.
“In times like this, it is helpful to be aware of your typical habits, routines and rituals and whether they are helping or hindering you,” Great South said.
