Local radio announcer, and former X Factor New Zealand contestant, Steve Broad has been confirmed as the winner of the recent Invercargill City Council (ICC) by-election.
On provisional results Broad recorded 2760 votes, which is over 1000 votes from his closest rival, David Meades (1576).
13,158 ordinary votes have now been counted leaving just 213 special votes still to be processed.
13,158 votes were recorded at 12.56pm on 7th August, representing 34.1% of eligible voters.
Broad will be sworn in ahead of Council’s Community Wellbeing Committee meeting on Tuesday 8 August.
ICC Mayor Nobby Clark was looking forward to working with him.
