After 12 months of planning, Southland is ready to celebrate rural life in the deep south for the 153rd time.
The Southland A&P Show takes place on Donovan Park, Invercargill, next Saturday, March 6.
And the organising committee expects the number of visitors to exceed last year's 10,000, enjoying an expanded programme.
Southland A&P Association president Paula Bell says: "This year’s theme is Our People, Our Province, recognising the fantastic community we have here in the south and celebrating all things Southland.
"We're thrilled to be hosting this year’s Otago/Southland Young Farmer of the Year Regional Final on show day, which will give people a real glimpse of life on the farm.
"Somehow our amazing committee have managed to bring even more attractions and entertainment to this year’s show."
Woodchopping is back in 2021 along with the XO Carnival, with a range of children’s entertainment.
The famous Partner Carry Race also returns, with all proceeds going to Southland Charity Hospital.
Two stages will showcase southern talent with the Idol Frets headlining the ever-growing food court and a large array of community groups performing on the community stage.
The Southfields Lifestyle Block has been locked in as a show regular, as a trade section dedicated to businesses which are tailored to suit those living on lifestyle blocks.
More than 50 crafters will also have their goods up for sale and the Birchwood Hunt Hound display is back, as is the sled dogs and the popular VetSouth PetVille petting zoo.
New this year is the Friday Night Market on March 5, with food, crafters and entertainment from 5pm, and a gold coin donation and proceeds going to the Southland Charity Hospital.
And an A&P Show would not be complete without the usual attractions, with the equestrian section, sheep, cattle and donkeys all securing similar entries to last year, rounding out the show, Bell says.
Gates open on show day, Saturday, March 6, at 9am.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and children under 16 are free.
