Police have confirmed that a Southland man died in a workplace incident in North Otago on Monday.
He was Hugh John Chisholm, 54, of Mataura, near Gore.
Chisholm owned and operated at company which did commercial hedge trimming, using a tractor with a cutting instrument, Stuff reports.
The fatal accident involved the tractor.

Emergency services were called to a farm in the town of Windsor, near Oamaru, shortly after 10am on Monday.
WorkSafe has opened an investigation into the accident. Police confirmed his name this morning.
A death notice published locally said the "dearly loved husband and best friend of Karen, and treasured step-dad of Megan" and the "loved son of John and Edna, formerly of Menzies Ferry".
A service for Hugh will be held in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel, 106 Hokonui Drive, Gore, at 1.30pm, on Monday, August 16, with a private interment to follow.
"Police extend our sympathies to his family and friends at this difficult time", a police spokesman said.
