Techweek 2020 goes online next week with Southland presenters helping to contribute to a jam-packed line-up of video seminars and presentations.
New Zealand's annual Techweek event was postponed from its scheduled date in May because of the Covid-19 pandemic and will now run from July 27 to August 2.
The event celebrates innovation in the New Zealand tech industry. For the first time it will be digitally led, offering more than 60 live video sessions.
Southland’s Regional Development Agency, Great South, has partnered with Techweek organisers and strategic partners across New Zealand to develop the programme.
Great South business services general manager Ben Lewis said the global COVID-19 pandemic had accelerated a shift to a digital world and it would be great to share Southland’s tech experiences of this shift.
Mr Lewis said Techweek would make the digital industry more accessible to everyone.
"We are looking forward to an engaging and informative event programme which will challenge attendees to think about the future of technology,” he said.

Southland’s involvement in the programme includes a feature on how Winton company AB Lime is using technology for predator control, environmental monitoring, and to reduce their carbon footprint.
There will also be a webinar on the Adopt-a-Trap system on Stewart Island, while a multiplayer gaming event hosted by COIN South will raise funds for Youthline.
Most of the presentations and video sessions are free.
Mr Lewis said technology played a significant role in strengthening local businesses.
“Techweek provides a great platform for businesses and members of the community to meet, share ideas and create digital connections that will benefit us all in the years to come,” he saud,
While some events around the country may include a physical component, all events will be virtually accessible.
