Southland pacer Watch Me Now left her rivals in her dust at the Show Day Races at Addington Cup Week in Christchurch on Friday (November 14).
She bolted away, putting plenty of distance between her and the other pacers to secure a win and a share of the $30,000 prize money in the South of The Waitaki event.
Confident in Watch Me Now’s ability, driver Kirstin Barclay was cool, calm and collected during the race, guiding her mare to run straight for the lead.

“It worked out perfectly for her, she was just able to take to lead…We were confident that she could come out and win but pleased with the way she did it," Barclay said.
Addington Raceway is the premier track in New Zealand and home to the country’s biggest racing stage.
Barclay said she felt immensely proud to be representing Southland competing at the top level.

Watch Me Now is only in her second season of racing, and Friday’ performance gave the mare her sixth win in just ten starts (races).
Ms Barclay trains the mare with Tank Ellis at Oreti Beach near Invercargill.
She said although Watch Me Now is a rookie of the racetrack, the four-year-old was already creating a huge impression and looked to have a very bright future.
Watch Me Now is owned by Tussock Creek couple Steve and Claire Sloan and their family.
She was bred from their broodmare, Mach N Elle.
