There are no longer any active COVID-19 cases in the south of New Zealand.


The Southern District Health Board area has recorded a total of 216 cases. Of those, two people have died but, as of today, the remaining 214 are reported to have recovered from the virus.


The last time a new case of COVID-19 was reported in the Southern DHB area was April 18.


There’s even more good news on the national front, with no new cases again today and 97% of all reported probable and confirmed cases now recovered.


One person is in hospital but not in intensive care.


New Zealand’s total number of confirmed and probable cases remains at 1503, 1153 have been confirmed.


The World Health Organisation’s latest situation report shows the number of confirmed cases reported globally rose by 57,804 in the previous 24 hours to a total of 4,789,205 cases. There have been 318,789 deaths from COVID-19, an increase of 2621 on the previous 24 hours.
