There have been six new cases of COVID-19 reported in New Zealand today and another person has died.
Five of today’s cases can be traced to a known source. One case is still being investigated.
None of the new cases is in the Southern District Health Board region where 205 of the 216 total cases are now reported to have recovered, leaving just nine active cases.
Nationally there have been a total of 1134 confirmed cases and 351 probable cases. 1263 people have recovered, and 20 people have died.
The latest death was that of George Hollings, a resident of Rosewood Rest Home in Christchurch who was in his 80s and a part of the group transferred to Burwood Hospital. He was considered to be a probable case of COVID-19 and also had underlying health conditions.
Five people are in hospital, none in intensive care and none in the southern region.
Globally, the World Health Organisation reports the total number of confirmed cases increased by 84,771 in the previous 24 hours to 3,175,207. There have been 224,172 deaths (6403 in the previous 24 hours).
