A pedestrian has been transported to hospital with serious injuries after an accident involving a car in Te Anau's Town Centre this morning (23 Feb).

Emergency services were alerted to the accident at 8.45am.

The southwest lane of the Town Centre road currently remains closed, as well as Miro Street.

Diversions are in place and motorists will need to avoid the area and expect delays.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.
