One person has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition following at serious crash in Winton at around 1.29pm today (31 Jan).

The accident involved a vehicle and a pedestrian, between Brandon and Wemyss Streets, and has closed State Highway 6.

Detours are now in place for motorists between Deans Road and Gap Road West .

All traffic is asked to detour via Gap Road West, Winton Substation Road, State Highway 96. 

Police said the road is expected to be closed for some time while a scene examaination takes place.
