A man remains missing near Milford Sound after being reported overdue on Monday night (27 March).

The man, who is experienced in the outdoors, was intending to climb Devil's Armchair.

A search was mounted yesterday (28 March) by Police Search and Rescue and LandSAR personnel and volunteers, including a LandSAR search dog from Dunedin.

Two helicopters also joined the search.

The search was further scaled-up after being joined by a specialist Alpine Cliff Rescue (ACR) team from Queenstown.

Night vision and thermal technology was deployed from a helicopter early this morning. 

Further aerial searches are being conducted today along with extra LandSAR and Police Search and Rescue teams.
