Safety, wellness and resilience expert to speak in the south (Sponsored) Safety, wellness, and resilience expert Lance Burdett

The Rural Support Trust would like to introduce Lance Burdett, a safety, wellness and resilience expert who is touring the south from May 14th – 16th.


Lance has worked with elite international tactical units across police, the military, emergency services, prisons and the FBI.


Now he focuses his time on helping people understand the pressures on our brains and how to handle them.


With 22 years policing experience at the highest level, Lance has expertise in responding to emergencies and communicating in challenging situations.


Lance specialised in suicide intervention and on predicting violent behaviour in his 13 years as a crisis negotiator and instructor for the NZ Police. 


He has a track record of leading successful teams through recruitment, training, professional development, motivation and welfare support. 


Lance is also the author of the bestselling book – Behind the Tape, Life on the Police Frontline – which details highlights of his police career. 


On this speaking tour, ‘From the Front Line to the Back Paddocks’ Lance’s specialist presentations will cover:


• Why we remember and exaggerate negative things

• Why we worry

• How self-talk can lead to negative self-talk

• How to beat rural challenges like isolation and change.


Lance talks about how and why the glut of information we get nowadays causes trouble, and what is happening with our brains when we get stressed.


He shares useful tips and tricks to help individuals, families and the community. 


Lance will be speaking in Balclutha, Gore and Winton.
