Roadworks Update 31/3/23

Please see below the areas on state highways in Southland where Highways South or contractors are likely to be working over the next week and where you may experience delays to your journeys.

These works are all weather dependent so start dates or changes should be expected in poor weather.

Please note:

  • The asphalt resurfacing of SH6 Great North Road in Winton continues next week. During this time, southbound traffic will be unaffected. Detours will be in place for HPMV and northbound traffic:
  • HPMV detour via Gap Road West/Winton Substation Road/SH96 Winton-Wreys Bush highway or Gap Road East/Norman Road/SH96
  • **The northbound light vehicle detour for the Winton resurfacing work signed as Dejoux Road/Park St/Home St

Due to the moratorium on roadworks on state highways in Southland over the Easter and Southland Anniversary holidays, this site will be open to traffic in both directions from midday April 6th until 7am on April 12th
