Roadworks Update 20/5/23

Below are the areas on state highways in Southland where Highways South or contractors are likely to be working over the next week and where you may experience delays to your journeys. 

These works are all weather dependent so start dates or changes should be expected in poor weather. 

 

Highways South work with traffic management in place next week

  • SH1 Clyde St between lake St and Avon Road, stop/go and temporary speed limit for coring
  • SH1 Edendale Woodlands highway south of Dacre, stop/go and temporary speed limit for coring
  • SH6 North Road Invercargill at the Bainfield Road intersection, lane drop and turning restrictions for digouts **nightworks from 6pm – 7am
  • SH6 Winton Lorneville highway at Counsell road, stop/go and temporary speed limit for coring
  • SH6 Winton Lorneville highway at Lorneville roundabout, stop/go and temporary speed limit for coring
  • SH6 Makarewa River Bridge, temporary traffic lights and temporary speed limit for drainage work
  • SH6 Five Rivers Lumsden highway at Lowther Road, temporary traffic lights and temporary speed limit for drainage work
  • SH6 Athol Five Rivers highway at Athol, stop/go and temporary speed limit for coring
  • SH6, Garston Athol highway at the Mataura River, possible stop/go for ATP installation
  • SH94 between Whitestone River bridge and Te Anau, temporary traffic lights and temporary speed limit for drainage work
  • SH94 Te Anau Mossburn highway between The Key and Te Anau, possible stop/go and temporary speed limit for ATP installation and coring
  • SH96 Winton Hedgehope highway at Egerton Road, possible stop/go and temporary speed limit for ATP installation
  • SH96 Wreys Bush Nightcaps highway between Wreys Bush-Mossburn Road and Aparima Road, possible stop/go and temporary speed limit for ATP installation
  • SH99 Riverton Wallacetown highway at Bickley Road, possible stop/go and temporary speed limit for ATP installation
  • SH99 Orepuki Riverton highway at Round Hill, possible stop/go and temporary speed limit for ATP installation
  • SH99 Orepuki Riverton highway between McCracken's Rest and Fishing Camp Road, possible stop/go and temporary speed limit for ATP installation
  • SH99 Wallacetown Lorneville road at Steel Road, stop/go and temporary speed limit for coring
  • SH99 Riverton Wallacetown highway at Gropers Bush Thornbury Road, stop/go and temporary speed limit for coring
  • SH99 Orepuki-Riverton highway at Tihaka, stop/go and temporary speed limit for coring
  • SH99 at Te Waewae, temporary traffic lights and temporary speed limit for drainage work

 

Roadmarking will be taking place on SH1, SH6, and SH94

                         

Third party work with traffic management in place next week

  • SH1 Tay St Invercargill, lane drop and temporary speed limit
  • SH1, Hyde St Gore, lane drop and temporary speed limit
  • SH6, Dee St at Bay Road, lane drop and temporary speed limit


Other work and events coming up:

  • A contractor will be completing work on SH1 Clyde St from 27th May – 9th June.
  • This will result in the closure of the southbound lanes at Balmoral Street, with traffic diverted to Nith St.
  • Moooooving Day is traditionally June 1st, so expect to see an increase of stock being moved around the network
