Roadworks Update 18/12/23


Below are the areas of state highways in Southland where there are likely to be work or events happening this week and where you may experience delays to your journeys.

We appreciate your patience at these sites. 


Highways South work with traffic management in place (all with temporary speed limits):

  • SH1 Bluff highway near Kekeno Place, temporary traffic lights for pavement excavation
  • SH1 Bluff highway near Greenhills, temporary traffic lights for pavement repairs
  • SH1 Edendale-Woodlands highway near Dacre, temporary traffic lights for pavement repairs
  • SH6 Garston Athol highway between Athol and Nokomai, temporary traffic lights for pavement repairs
  • SH94 Te Anau Mossburn highway west of Mossburn, stop/go for watercutting
  • SH94 Te Anau Mossburn highway at Hillside-Manapouri Road, stop/go for watercutting
  • SH94 Te Anau Mossburn near Ramparts Road, stop/go for watercutting
  • SH94 Lumsden-Riversdale highway near Lintley, temporary traffic lights for earthworks
  • SH96 Winton-Hedgehope highway near Springhills, temporary traffic lights for pavement renewal
  • SH96 Wreys Bush-Nightcaps highway between Aparima and Lynch roads, temporary traffic lights for pavement renewal
  • SH99 Wallacetown-Lorneville Road at the Makarewa River bridge, temporary traffic lights for bridge deck clearing
  • SH99 Riverton-Wallacetown highway at the Tomoporkau Creek bridge, temporary traffic lights for bridge deck clearing
  • SH99 Riverton-Wallacetown highway at the Waianawa Stream bridge, temporary traffic lights for bridge deck clearing
  • SH99 Riverton-Wallacetown highway at the Waimatuku Stream bridge, temporary traffic lights for bridge deck clearing


There will also be a crew lifting service covers on both Dee St and North Road next week, working at night with a lane shift in place. 


Third party work with traffic management in place this week (all with temporary speed limits):

  • SH1 Main St Mataura, stop/go for installation of sign
  • SH6 Winton-Lorneville highway at Flora Road East, stop/go for resurfacing on side road
  • SH96 Nightcaps, stop/go for watermains work
  • SH99 Palmerston St Riverton, road closure for Christmas Eve parade24th December only from 6pm – 10pm

 

Programmed work in first few weeks of the new year:

  • Early January – SH6 Lumsden-Dipton highway at Caroline – traffic lights and temporary speed limit in place for earthworks and road reconstruction (until early February)
  • Mid-January – SH94 Te Anau-Mossburn highway near Mossburn – traffic lights and temporary speed limit in place for earthworks with road reconstruction to follow in February
  • Early/Mid-January – SH99 at Argyle Corner and Gropers Bush-Thorburn intersections, SH96 at Wreys Bush-Mossburn Road, SH1 Pioneer highway intersection with SH96 Glencoe highway – asphalt resurfacing (2-3 nights at each location)
  • Late January – SH96 Winton-Wreys Bush highway near Transmission Line Road - traffic lights and temporary speed limit in place for earthworks and reconstruction (until mid March)
  • Early February – SH94 Mossburn-Lumsden near Dipton-Castlerock intersection - traffic lights and temporary speed limit in place for road reconstruction (until late February)
