Please see below the areas on state highways in Southland where Highways South or contractors are likely to be working over the next week and where you may experience delays to your journeys.
These works are all weather dependent so start dates or changes should be expected in poor weather.
Please note: Winton resurfacing work
- The asphalt resurfacing of SH6 Great North Road in Winton continues next week.
- The first stage underway is from Bute St to Albert St and will last until the end of March.
- During this time, southbound traffic will be unaffected.
- Detours will be in place for HPMV and northbound traffic:
- HPMV detour via Gap Road West/Winton Substation Road/SH96 Winton-Wreys Bush highway or Gap Road East/Norman Road/SH96
- **The northbound light vehicle detour for the Winton resurfacing work is now signed as Dejoux Road/Park St/Home St to avoid the primary school on Eglington St.

- SH1 Edendale Woodlands highway near Homestead Road, Edendale, temporary traffic lights and temporary speed limit for pavement repair

- SH93 Old Coach Road between Heaps Road and Bristow Road, stop/go and temporary speed limit for resurfacing
- SH94, multiple locations between Croydon and Otamita, temporary traffic lights and temporary speed limit for pavement work

- SH96, Glencoe highway near McDonald Road, stop/go and temporary speed limit for bridge guardrail repair
- SH99 at Colac Bay, stop/go and temporary speed limit for resurfacing

- SH99, Tuatapere-Orepuki highway at Fishing Camp Road, stop/go and temporary speed limit for vegetation removal
* Roadmarking taking place across the network using mobile traffic management, so should not be disruptive.
There will be some roadmarking happening north of Winton on SH6 which will be stop/go when required.

Upcoming third party work:
SH6 Invercargill road closure: Due to ongoing stormwater renewal work by Invercargill City Council, from 6pm on Friday 24th March until 6am on 27th March SH6 Dee St will have both lanes closed between Herbert St and the Bay Rd lights.
Detours will be in place.
Please note that due to the heavy vehicle detour in Gore being closed for the replacement of a wastewater pipeline over the next three weeks, road users should expect an increase of heavy traffic on SH1/Main St Gore.
