Roadworks Update 03/3/25

ROAD CLOSURES

Pyramid Waiparu Road: 3-7 March

Closing Pyramid Waiparu Road from Riversdale Pyramid Road to White Road to through traffic from 7am Monday 3 March until Friday 7 March. The closure is to replace the second of two culverts. A detour will be available for north traffic via Riversdale Pyramid Road, Two Chain Road, Riverside Waikaia Road and Waipounamu Bridge Road. South traffic detour is via Pyramid Waiparu Road, Waipounamu Bridge Road and Riversdale Waikaia Road.

 

Nightcaps Opio Road: 10-14 March

Closing Nightcaps Opio Road from Cleghorn Road to Wreys Bush Nightcaps highway (SH96) to through traffic from 7am Monday 10 March until 6pm Friday 14 March. Alternative dates are Monday 17 March until Friday 21 March 2025. The closure is to replace an existing culvert at the Nightcaps end. A detour will be available via Cleghorn Road, Opio Road, Newton Greer Road and Wreys Bush Nightcaps highway (SH96). Residents will have access to properties up to the culvert.

 

Bridge Inn Road: 10 March-1 May

Closing Bridge Inn Road from Clark Road to O’Rourke Road between 7am Monday 10 March and 5pm Thursday 1 May. The closure is to replace the bridge over the Waikiwi Stream. A detour will be available via O’Rourke Road, King Road, Caulfield Road, Rakahouka Grove Bush Road, North Makarewa Grove Bush Road, Macadam Road and Coveney Road. Residents will have access to properties on either side of the bridge.

 

Derby Road (Limehills): 11 March-30 April

Closing Derby Road from Pisa Road to Dipton Winton highway to through traffic from 6.30am Tuesday 11 March until 6pm Wednesday 30 April. The closure is to enable pavement rehabilitation. A detour will be available via Dipton Winton highway, Pisa Road and Ayr Street. Residents will have managed access to properties.

 

RESEALS (Downer)

The Downer sealing team are programmed to be working on the following district road sites:

 

3 March: Lochiel Bridge Road, Spar Bush Winton Road, Te Anau Terrace

4 March: Ohai Clifden highway, Lakefront Drive (Te Anau), Te Tipua School Road

5 March: Ohai Clifden highway, Te Tipua School Road

6 March: Blackmount Redcliff Road

 

TE ANAU RESEALS

3 March: Te Anau Terrace. This will be one-way only from Dusky Street to the town centre. Any residents leaving Matai Street or their property must turn left and head towards town centre. There will be stop/go at Dusky Street to allow access into the boat ramp. The boat ramp will be getting sealed also. For a short time, boats will not be able to access the boat ramp. This work will be done at a quiet time.

4 March: Lakefront Drive (Te Anau): This will be one-way only from Manapouri Te Anau highway SH95 towards the town centre. Any residents leaving Mokoroa Street or their property must turn right and head towards the town centre.

Please note: There will be no access from the roundabout into either of these sites during sealing.

 

STATE HIGHWAYS (Highways South)

Highways South work with temporary traffic lights or stop/go and temporary speed limits this week (subject to weather):

 

•            SH6 Winton-Lorneville highway at Makarewa bridge for pavement repairs

•            SH6 Winton-Lorneville highway at Branxholme-Makarewa Road for pavement repairs

•            SH6 Flora Road Lumsden between Lydia and Albion Streets for chip seal surfacing

•            SH6 Lumsden Dipton highway near Caroline Valley Road for chip seal surfacing

•            SH6 Lumsden Dipton highway south of Caroline Valley Road for chip seal surfacing

•            SH94 Te Anau Mossburn highway at Wilderness Road for chip seal surfacing

•            SH96 Winton-Wreys Bush highway at Transmission Line Road for pavement repairs

•            SH96 Winton-Wreys Bush highway between Drummond Oreti and Spar-Bush-Winton Roads for chip seal surfacing

•            SH96 Wreys Bush Nightcaps highway at Wreys Bush for pavement renewal

•            SH96 Glencoe highway at Glencoe for pavement renewal

•            SH99 Riverton-Wallacetown highway at Bickley Road for chip seal surfacing

•            SH99 Tuatapere-Orepuki highway between Te Tua and Tuatapere for surface repairs


Road marking:

•            SH6 urban areas on Invercargill and Lumsden, mobile operation under nightshift 

•            SH6 Invercargill to Five Rivers, rural areas, mobile operation

•            SH1 Old Edendale Road, mobile operation


Third-party work and events with traffic management in place this week:

•            SH1 Pioneer highway at Brydone, stop/go for power pole installation 3 and 7 March only

•            SH94 Te Anau Mossburn highway at Centre Hill, stop/go for tree felling

•            SH95 Manapouri-Te Anau highway at Manapouri, stop/go for trenching


Upcoming work:

•            March/April: SH99 at Lorneville, asphalt resurfacing
