A recreational boat that slipped it berthing lines during high winds on Monday night (20 Mar) is likely to take 2 weeks to salvage, according to Environment Southland's (ES) regional harbour master and maritime manager Lyndon Cleaver.

ES, along with the boat's insurer and dive salvage experts, visited the site today to establish a salvage plan.
Cleaver said there is still no noticeable discharge to the water, but ES would be continuing to monitor the situation closely until the vessel was removed from the water.
Another vessel that partially sank at its berth in Riverton Harbour on Monday night, has now been re-floated and recovered from the water, Cleaver said.
