Risk of further snow reduces

The latest forecast from 45South suggests the cold windflow (surface winds still slightly NW over the region, but WSW at cloud level) will continue to bring showers in a well defined area south of a line Otautau through to Tapanui, and extending into South Otago.

Wind-flow at lowers levels is likely to tend more WSW as well by late afternoon and this may allow a few showers to spread north.

However there will be a gradually reducing risk of further snowfall or heavy hail, as temperatures aloft start warming.

Showers within this zone have been quite heavy at times with hail which has accumulated locally around Invercargill, and probably in other areas well below the 'snowline'
