Relieving Hostel Manager Positions x 2
Seeking Registration of interest.

Do you fancy spending a week or two each year, in Deep Cove, Doubtful Sound?
Do you enjoy the outdoors?
The Deep Cove Outdoor Education Trust is a not-for-profit organization, which was established in 1971.
The Deep Cove Hostel runs a 50-bed building that was established for the purpose of enabling school aged children a unique opportunity to experience life in a remote part of the Fiordland National Park.
The Trust also operates a Fuel dispensing business, and a 20-bed accommodation for casual guests, these contributes to the financial viability of our operations.
The Relieving manager role is to provide cover for our Hostel manager’s rostered time off.
This equates to approximately 16 weeks a year. The current team of volunteer relievers cover 3-4 weeks each year,
Skills and attributes.
The ideal person would have: A passion for the outdoors. Experience working with youth. Great communication skills. Ability to pass Police checks, as working with school aged children. Good knowledge of First aid. A clean driver’s license. Good mechanical aptitude. Basic computer literacy.
In return, you will get to spend a couple of weeks a year, in the beautiful Doubtful Sound (travel, food and training expenses covered).
We have a self-contained unit that our relieving staff utilize, with all the basic comforts of home.
The hostel has a boat available for you go fishing and during the quiet times there may even be opportunities to go for a hunt in the evenings.
