Rates in the Southland District will increase 3.49% for the next financial year according to the council's latest Annual Plan for 2019/2020.
The Southland District Council is set to consider its Annual Plan for adoption on Wednesday in Invercargill.
The plan is a yearly look and adjustment to the council's 10-year Long-Term Plan (LTP) for 2018-2028.
he rate increase for 2019/2020 will be 3.49%, compared to 3.34% proposed in the LTP.
The majority of changes to the Long-Term Plan relate to capital works projects for roading, sewerage and water renewals.
Key changes include to the plan — compared to what was forecast — include the removal of anticipated external debt ($7.9 million) and associated repayments ($0.2 million), the addition of the council’s contribution to the Pyramid Bridge ($1.5 million), and costs associated with the change in disposal method for Te Anau sewerage project ($3.3 million), among other capital works projects.
