A new 18 hole Queenstown golf course makes its public debut this week.
Millbrook Resort's championship Coronet 18 will incorporate a newly-developed 9 holes at Mill Farm with the resort's existing Coronet 9 holes.
Designed by former golf pro Greg Turner and Scott Macpherson, it is believed that the course will be the highest commercial golf tee in the country (the 12th tee on the Coronet 18 is 480 metres above sea level).
“Millbrook is coming of age with the new Coronet course which represents a 21st century evolution, a more modern version, of previous courses,” Turner said.
The resort, now one of only two golf courses in New Zealand to offer two distinctly different 18-hole courses, will also host the New Zealand Open from March 31 to April 3.
The existing Remarkables 18 and the new Coronet 18 will be able to be played on alternate days.
The new course comes on top of a $4million upgrade to the resort's Pro Shop and village centre, which includes a new 1000sqm practice putting green and the doubling of its golf cart fleet.
The Coronet 18 opens to the public on Monday January 3.
