A memorial service to celebrate the life of Winton cancer advocate Blair Vining will be held this Wednesday in Invercargill.
Mr Vining's family shared the details of the memorial on both his Facebook and Instagram pages overnight.
The service will take place at ILT Stadium Southland at 11.30am, with his family requesting attendees wear their favourite rugby jersey in support of Blair.
Mr Vining's wife Melissa said on the post that the service will be a celebration of his life and hoped to recreate the atmosphere at a fundraising party held earlier this year.
“This is not a funeral, it is a celebration of life. We want to pay tribute to Blair the way he would have wanted. We want to create a room full of love and positivity, to celebrate the life of a legend.”
The post said originally Mr Vining wanted his service to take place at Bill Richardson Transport World, but the venue had to be changed to accommodate the large number of attendees expected.
Mr Vining died on Friday after a year long battle with bowel cancer. He was 39-years-old.
