A power pole snapped in half and fell on top of an occupied car on West Plains Road outside Invercargill this morning.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand shift manager Brett Dunn said the driver was removed from the vehicle without any issues with the surrounding power pole lines. He said he did not know the health status of the driver.

Two fire appliances were called out and the scene was clear now.
