Balclutha Police are appealing for witnesses after a vehicle fled from police on the Clinton Highway on Tuesday 16 July. 

The incident began just west of Clinton and went through to Balclutha before the vehicle, a white 1999 Toyota Celica, turned back around towards Clinton on Clinton Highway.

The vehicle then turned a second time back towards Balclutha, near Waiwera, before continuing through Balclutha and then Milton.

Police attempted to stop car around 4pm and called off the pursuit for safety reasons.

Police are continuing their enquiries to locate the driver and are asking for any information from the public. 

It's possible the offending vehicle passed a number of cars, potentially almost hitting them, and police are seeking anyone who witnessed or experienced this to contact police.
