Fifty-seven pipe bands and over 1500 band members will gather on Friday (7 Mar) and Saturday (8 Mar), at the Queens Park Cricket Grounds, for the 2025 New Zealand Pipe Band Championships.

Bands from throughout New Zealand - including reining New Zealand grade one champion band Canterbury Caledonian, and several from Australia are expected to attend.

A crowd highlight will be the Street March involving all bands, a free event for the public to watch, and is performed on Gala Street on Saturday morning.

Musical Set and Medley events will be held at Queens Park Cricket Grounds on both Friday and Saturday (7-8 Mar), but spectators will be required to pay a token entry fee.

This year's event is the second time Invercargill has hosted the championship in recent years. The event was last held in Invercargill in 2020.

Invercargill is home to the ILT City of Invercargill Highland Pipe Band, who will field bands in grades one, three, four A, four B and the Juvenile section.

Other Southland Pipe Bands competing this year will include Waimatuku Southern Scenic and Hokonui Celtic.
