Stage one in the redevelopment of Invercargill's Peacehaven Retirement Village, which will ultimately see 38 new units and a residents' lodge, is set to begin on Monday (23 Jun).

Presbyterian Support Southland (PSS) chief executive Matt Russell said they were very excited to be at this point, with designs completed and all necessary approvals including funding confirmed.

Stage 1a is expected to take 18 months to complete and will involve building 13 units, a mix of standalone and duplex options, and a show home, Russell said.

The show home is expected to be finished by the end of the year ready for viewings, with registrations of interest now open for the new homes, he said.

The entire project is expected to take up to five years to complete.

Maxis Projects' Nick Hamlin will oversee the redevelopment project.

“We have a very experienced design and construction team led by Nick supporting us through the redevelopment," Russell said.

“Nick has worked alongside our organisation for the past 25 years and most recently led the design and construction of the Hawthorndale Care Village.”

A celebration will be held on Monday, June 23 ahead of work commencing, Russell said.
