Maintenance work will begin on the Lake Monowai Road suspension bridge at 6pm on Wednesday, 24 March, requiring closure of the bridge nightly for about four weeks while the work is being carried out.

The closures will occur from 6pm to 6am, Sunday through to Thursday, finishing on 21 April.

The bridge will be open at weekends, from 6am Friday until 6pm Sunday; and during Easter weekend and Southland Anniversary Day, 2-6 April.

If an emergency occurs during these closures, contractors working on-site will have plans in place to ensure emergency services and other supporting vehicles can cross the bridge.
