A well-known Riversdale contractor is understood to be the man who died in a trail bike accident during a fundraising event near Milton on Saturday.
Southern Police have not yet confirmed the name but the Otago Daily Times and the Stuff website have both reported today the deceased is Lindsay Roy, a married father of two.
A police communications spokeswoman told the Southland App the accident was still being investigated, and while media outlets had published the man’s name, the police were still not able to do so, she said.

“We are continuing to investigate the cause of death,” she said. “We will do an update and put the name out there when we can.”
Mr Roy was riding in the 18th annual Lake to Sea Motorcycle Trail Ride, a fundraiser for the Tokomairiro High School PTA.
There were two other separate crashes at the event, with emergency services responding to two distress beacons activated in the area about 12.10pm.
Two patients were flown to Dunedin Hospital with serious injuries. An update on their welfare was not available.
The Serious Crash Unit has attended and examined the scenes.
The death has been referred to the Coroner and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of all three crashes.
Meanwhile, three injured people were flown to Southland Hospital on Sunday evening, after a single car crash on the Lumsden-Dipton Highway about 6.30pm.
Southern police are appealing for any witnesses to the accident, or who may have seen a blue Subaru Legacy vehicle travelling in the area.
If you can help, please call 105 and quote event number P044252446.
An update on the welfare of the three car occupants was not available.
“We are still making enquiries and are speaking to the people involved,” the police spokeswoman said.
