Police are on the lookout for those responsible for a serious firearms incident in Gore last night (17 Dec) that required two people to be airlifted in hospital.
One person is in a serious condition while the other has moderate injuries.
Police were called to a house on Aparima Street shortly before 8pm, following reports of a firearm being discharged.
Southland Area Commander, Inspector Mike Bowman, said they were making a number of inquiries to locate the person or people involved, and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
“The offenders fled the scene before Police arrived and they are still outstanding."
“We know there will be people in the community who know who did this, and we’re asking them to help us."
“This is clearly a serious incident, and Police are treating all factors with urgency.”
Bowman said Police did not believe there is any risk to other members of the community.
A scene guard remained at the Aparima Street property overnight and a scene examination will be carried out this morning.
