NOTIFICATION OF AN APPLICATION FROM WAKA KOTAHI NZ TRANSPORT AGENCY FOR REPLACEMENT PROTECTION STRUCTURE AT HOMER TUNNEL IN FIORDLAND NATIONAL PARK
The Minister of Conservation gives notice under section 17SC of the Conservation Act 1987 of an application by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency for a concession to construct a replacement avalanche and rockfall protection structure at the eastern portal of the Homer Tunnel within Fiordland National Park.
The application also seeks to authorise associated works, including excavation of material from the adjoining area to fill beside and over the new avalanche structure, associated earthworks, the construction of rip rap scour protection and the removal of the existing protection shelter.

Any person or organisation may make comment in writing to the Director-General for or against the proposal or make any other written submissions on the proposal.

Any person or organisation wishing to be heard in support of his/her submission, must request (within that submission) an opportunity to appear before the Director-General.
If a hearing is required, it is likely to occur in the week beginning 5 December 2022.
