Initally two fire trucks from Invercargill responded but this was quickly increased to seven fire trucks from Invercargill, Kingswell, Wallacetown and Bluff.

Crews arrived to a building well involved in fire and quickly got to work to extingish the fire and protect nearby buildings.

SH6 remains closed to north bound traffic, between Victoria Avenue and Tay Street.

The southbound lane was reopened at 6am, at a reduced speed, but the northbound lane remains closed to traffic.

3 fire trucks and 1 support vehicle are still on the scene.

A Fire investigator is expected to return to the scene this morning.
