Motorists are being warned to exercise extreme caution on some Southland roads tonight, due to the likelihood of ice and black ice.

Warnings have been issued for State Highway 93 - Mataura to Clinton, State Highway 94 - Te Anau to Gore, State Highway 96 - Ohai to Mataura and State Highway 6 - Winton to Kingston.
