Seventeen Southland quilters are showcasing their year’s work at Winton’s War Memorial Hall this weekend.
The Otautau Patchwork Group has put more than 40 colourful quilts on display.
They hang beside another 75, smaller, quilts that are touring with the Aotearoa Quilters national organisation.

Seven merchant stands are also at the event, offering sewing products, knitwear, honey, jewellery and more.
Otautau Patchwork Group member Joyce Wilson said at least 80 people had been through the hall by mid-afternoon today (October 23). The exhibition ends on Monday
“It is just fabulous. It is not just quilts. We have table runners, wall hangers, and bags as well,” she said.

The national quilt exhibition presents entries to two themed challenges: “aqua”, with 55 entries, and “journey” with another 20 quilts.
Mrs Joyce said the Otautau Patchwork Group had been exhibiting for more than 20 years at Otautau’s old court house and museum premises.
After the museum expanded its exhibits, the group found a new home for their annual exhibition at Winton’s War Memorial Hall last year.
“It is big and it is fabulous. We had people queuing at 10am to come in and by 11am, we reckon we had about 30 people through,” Mrs Joyce said.
The exhibition includes tea and cake, with an entry price of $5.
It continues on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10am to 4pm every day.
