The Milford Road (SH 94) remains closed today.
NZTA advise an avalanche hazard now exists on the Milford Road.
They expect further snow will impact the road this afternoon and overnight tonight.
Reopening of road (or for convoys) through to Milford Sound will be dependant on snow clearing progress over a widespread length of road over the next few days, they said.
Meanwhile southerly winds are expected to pick up over Southland could bring snow to 400m tomorrow (14 Jun) afternoon and into the evening.
