Announcement: Water users - take care on the Lower Waiau River from 7pm Wednesday.

We'll be releasing a flushing flow from the Manapōuri Lake Control Structure to the Lower Waiau River starting at 7pm Wednesday 15 May.

 The release is under Meridian’s consent conditions to assist in managing nuisance didymo (periphyton) in the Lower Waiau River.

 The release will reach a peak of approximately 180 cumecs, with a 24-hour average of 120 cumecs, returning to minimum flow around 8pm on Thursday 16 May.

 We encourage everyone using the river to take extra care during this time.
