The Manapouri Community Pool building has received a colourful facelift.
A group of local artists recently painted a mural on the pool's outside walls, incorporating cartoon characters in a swimming pool.
“The pool committee approached us last year and after helping out with the mural at the Vintage Machinery Club in Te Anau, we decided it would be a fun community project to do,” Manapouri Art Group member Ann Whatley said.

It took 10 art group members five days to complete the project in February.
“It was an awesome experience to do something for the children in the community,“ club president Sally Shaw said.
The artists who donated time to the project were Sally Shaw, Ann Whatley, Judith Taylor, Pauline Nicholson, Kathy Singleton, David Bryant, Margaret and Bob Nicol, Helen McKay, and Margaret Christie.
All paint was donated by Ian Crook Decorating.
Manapouri Pool Committee president Julie Burgess said she was thrilled with getting the job done at no cost to the committee.
“It’s an amazing feat of getting the community together and doing something for the community. The result is absolutely beautiful and eye catching. Before the mural was painted you wouldn’t even know the swimming pool was there,” she said.
The pool is open each year from October (Labour Weekend) till Easter.
A key can be purchased at the Manapouri Store for $80, (including a refundable $20 bond), which provides access 24/7.
There is an adult-size pool and a shallow paddling pool for small children.
