A man is in a serious condition after being shot by Police at Dacre.

Officers were called to the Dacre address this morning, following a call from a concerned female.

The man presented a weapon to officers on State Highway 1 at Dacre, and was subsequently shot by Police shortly before midday.

St Johns were notified by Police at 11.50am and responded with two ambulances.

A man has now been taken to hospital in a serious condition where he is undergoing surgery.

State Highway 1/Edendale-Woodlands Highway remains closed between Kerr Road and SH 98, while Police conduct a scene examination.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and take alternate routes.

Detour routes are in place via Grove Bush - Woodlands Road (SH98).

The road is likely to remain closed until tomorrow afternoon (Sun 20th March).
