A man was found “wet and cold” in the early hours of Tuesday morning following a search at Riverton.

Police found the man in the water near the Riverton harbour entrance in Taramea Bay about 3am.

The man was taken to Southland Hospital in a moderate condition, according to the police media team.

Police and other emergency services - Riverton Coastguard, Fire and Emergency and St Johns - helped search for the man.
