A 42-year-old man appeared in the Invercargill District Court today (2 January) after a reported firearms offence in the Tapanui-Raes Junction area yesterday.

A Police media spokesman says a person was taken into Police custody at an address on Tapanui-Raes Junction Highway yesterday. No injuries were reported.

The man faces three charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, three charges of failing to comply with conditions, burglary, believed to have occurred at an address near Roxburgh, and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.

With the matter now before the courts no further information could be provided, the spokesman says.
