A 40-year-old man has been arrested on two drunk driving related charges, following a fatal crash near Lochiel on 25 February 2023.

Invercargill Police said the man was arrested today (16 Mar) and will appear in the Invercargill District Court on 21st March.

One person died at the scene, while two others were taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The 2-vehicle crash occurred just after midnight on 25th February on SH 6 between McKenzie Road and Wilsons Crossing Road, closing the highway till 1.40pm the following afternoon.

One person remains in a serious condition in hospital.
