Lumsden is now being temporarily bypassed by Queenstown bound travelers following the cutting of State Highway 6 (SH6) on Monday (19 Sept).
The much publicised road works, to replace a culvert at Ram Hill Creek, is expected to take a week.

North and southbound travelers are in the meantime being asked to detour via the Dipton-Castlerock Road.
However most local businesses have remained open, with the town still accessible from its northern and eastern entrances.
The affected section of SH6 is due to reopen again on Monday 26th September.
