Ranger, Community (Kaitiaki, Āo Hāpori) - Te Anau

The Te Anau District is seeking a highly motivated and suitably qualified individual with experience in
understanding and applying legislation, to take up this busy and interesting position.
Applicants for the position of Ranger, Community; Kaitiaki, Āo Hāpori will look forward to an exciting

the Te Anau District alongside our Treaty partners and community.
He angitūtanga: About the role
In this role you will:
• Process permit and concession applications and monitor commercial or private activity on
public conservation land, including providing high quality input on Resource Management Act
planning processes, coordinating the Department's input into resource consent applications
and consent monitoring where these affect natural, historic and/or recreation resources
• Provide administrative, liaison and advocacy support to projects that seek to achieve more
conservation through greater involvement of iwi, business and the wider community
• Liaison regarding operational input into long term concessions and approvals
• Promoting conservation, lifting awareness and educating others on the value of conservation
and ecosystem services

If you are well organised, have a good appreciation and understanding of environmental protection,
and work well both independently and as part of a team, then we are keen to hear from you.
The successful applicant will have excellent written and oral communication skills and possess the
ability to effectively prioritise commitments to meet deadlines. Project management experience would
be an advantage.
Strong consideration given to applicants with a background in relation to management of natural
resources, knowledge of conservation principles, and interpretation/analysis of statutory
framework(s).
