Back Country Foods are seeking a Production Manager to join their Invercargill team. 

Back Country Foods is an iconic Southland business that manufactures a range of unique freeze dried meals and other products for the local and international market. Back Country Foods produces meals under the Back Country Cuisine brand.

About the position

The Production Manager role is a hands-on management position, leading the small processing and packing teams and ensuring the smooth operation of these areas of the business. This role is a senior leader in the business and reports to the General Manager. With a strong focus on high quality production, this position plays a key role in food processing compliance, making improvements and ensuring a cost effective and time efficient operation.

About you

A confident team leader, you will have previous food manufacturing experience and effective communication skills. You enjoy working in an environment where you are hands-on, alongside your team. 

You will also bring a good working knowledge of food safety standards and health and safety to ensure compliance and best practice.

For success, you will bring the following key skills, experience and attributes:

• Energetic and positive
• Experience supervising or managing a team in a similar work environment with proven ability to motivate others
• Previous experience managing production and inventories and maintaining compliance records
• The ability to undertake maintenance checks on processing machinery
