Cycling Southland has secured the hosting rights for the 2026 New Zealand Criterium Championships.
This follows Invercargill's successfully hosting of this year’s event.
Set for Saturday, 17 January, the championships will bring the nation’s top cyclists — including Olympians and emerging junior talent — back to the city’s streets for a high-speed, action-packed race.
Cycling Southland President Julian Ineson said they were thrilled to be hosting next year's champs.
Ineson said the public would once again be able to enjoy the thrills of fast-paced racing around the streets of Invercargill — up close and personal.
"It’s also an incredible opportunity for many of our junior riders to mix it with some of New Zealand’s top cyclists, including Olympians.”
Ineson said their sponsors, supporters and the public had also been a key factor in securing their successful 2025 bid.
The weekend will also feature the Custom Canvas Watson Gore to Invercargill Classic and the ILT New Year Carnival track racing, promising a festival of cycling for fans and families alike.
