Invercargill second warmest place in NZ at midday

At 28.5deg C it follows Lower Hutt who recorded a sweltering 31deg C.
The New Year holiday break has seen nearly all of the country bake in high temperatures.
By 4pm temperatures had eased across the New Zealand, but however remain firmly in the mid 20s and above.
MetService forecasts temperatures in Southland should ease mid- week with some showers dropping the daily high to 16deg C, but climbing to a high of 23deg C again at the weekend.
