Invercargill police have today confirmed the unexplained death of a woman in the city they have been investigating was not suspicious.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Baird said the woman was located deceased at a Grace Street property on Thursday (29th October) and her death was initially treated as unexplained.

Extensive investigations were carried out at the property, while another home in Tay Street was also cordoned off as a property of interest.

Having now concluded there were no suspicious circumstances, police said the matter would be referred to the Coroner.
