Invercargill Airport marked a key milestone today with the opening of a permanent Aviation Security Service (AvSec) office, reinforcing Southland’s commitment to long-term jet connectivity.
The new facility replaces temporary setups and supports ongoing jet operations, signaling confidence in the region’s aviation future.
“This office shows we’re serious about growth and accessibility,” said Airport CEO Stuart Harris.
“It complements our current upgrades and sends a clear message to airline partners and the community.”
Barry Taylor, Head of Aviation Security for the Lower South Island, called the move a “practical and strategic win” for both staff and Southland’s place in the national network.
