A Fiordland tramper has been airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after a Search and Rescue operation in the Gertrude Saddle, Milford area overnight (25 Feb).

Police were notified of a personal locator beacon having been activated around 7pm last night after a tramper had come across someone who was injured and in need of assistance. 

Police Search and Rescue, including Land Search and Rescue personnel, were dispatched and located the injured person.
