It is a massive weekend of motorsport at Teretonga Park this weekend with ten classes of motor racing with many of the fields featuring very healthy grid numbers.

The big banger OSCA Super Saloons are always a big attraction and Teretonga Park will be Round 2 of their championship with Dunedin driver Steve Ross leading by the barest of margins in his Jaguar TraNZam XK.

Just one point behind him is Daniel Currie of Kaiapoi in his Subaru WRX, both Ross and Currie picking up a race win apiece at Round 1.

Geoff Washbourne in his Aston Martin is third just three points further back with Michael Gallagher of Ashburton (Mazda RX7) next followed by Paul Brooks of Ohoka who won two of the four races at the opening round in his Nissan 200SX S15 but suffered problems in one of the races costing him valuable points.

Brooks took the top step of the podium on the series last visit to Teretonga Park.

Two of the OSCA races at each round feature reverse grids, with one of those a handicap start, the sight of these super-fast saloons carving through the field is a sight to behold.

Several of the classes will feature large grids of cars with the Noel McIntyre Drainage Club Saloons sporting very healthy numbers.

Amongst them are some more exciting machinery with Liam MacDonald in his Ford Falcon, Jordan Michels in his Ford Focus V8, Dunedin drivers Adam Cullen (Corvette) and Brian Scott (Porsche 997) while Rachael Beck of Invercargill will debut a new Ford Mustang.

The Historic & Classic Pre 78 grid is another large one with some fascinating cars from the pre-78 era while the South Island F1600 Championship will feature wheel to wheel single seater racing with another large field featuring some experienced names up against plenty of youthful up and coming talent.

The Pro 7 Saloons are dominated by Mazda RX8’s including one in the hands of Invercargill driver Bradley Dawson while fellow Southlander Wayne Elliott campaigns the lone RX7 and Mini South present their biggest field for several seasons at Teretonga Park.

The Pre 65 Saloons, 2K Cup Teretonga Challenge SS Cup and NZ Six Saloons complete a brilliant line up.

All attendees must be double vaccinated and have their My Vaccine pass with them when entering Teretonga Park.
